Edible Chocolate Chip Dough Recipe
Made with the basic chocolate chip cookie dough ingredients, this recipe is quick and easy so a sweet snack is never far away.
Ingredients for Dough
- 2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup of light brown sugar
- 1 cup salted butter, softened at room temperature, not melted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- If using unsalted butter, add up to a half teaspoon more of salt.
- 1 cup of mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Use 3/4 cup to 1 cup depending on how dense in chocolate chips you want the dough.
Directions for Homemade Edible Cookie Dough
Step 1: Bake or heat up flour to kill pathogens and bacteria. Place the 2 cups of flour on a rimmed baking sheet and bake in an oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes. Make sure the flour reaches 165 degrees then remove it from the oven, and let it cool completely. If you don’t have an oven you can microwave the flour on a plate at 30-second intervals until the flour reaches 165 degrees F.
Then, if needed, use a whisk to break up the flour once cool.
Step 2: In a stand mixer, cream together the softened butter and light brown sugar. Then add the salt, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
Step 3: Next gradually mix in the flour, stirring occasionally and scraping the sides as you go. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Step 4: For single-serving snacks use a 1″ cookie dough scoop and scoop cookie dough balls an inch apart on a large parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 1 hour and then place dough balls in an air-tight container and store in the refrigerator(up to 2 weeks) or freezer(up to 3 months).
Want to skip the scoop? That’s totally fine! This cookie dough is still divine! So grab a spoon and dive right in.
