Ingredients

  • 10-12 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • ½ cup sugar or ⅓ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon divided
  • 1 cup flour or oat flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup old-fashion oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup butter cold, and cubed
  • ½ cup chopped pecans optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9x13-in baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Place the apples in a large bowl. Mix the apples with the granulated sugar (or maple syrup) and 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon until all the apples are coated. Evenly spread the coated apples into the greased baking dish.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour(or oat flour), brown sugar, oats, baking powder, and remaining cinnamon. Then cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles a coarse crumble. Sprinkle the crumble over the apples.
  • Bake the apple crisp for 50-60 minutes or until apples are cooked through and tender. Pro Tip: Broil the top for 2-3 minutes for an extra crisp crumble. Make sure to watch it as it broils so the dish doesn't burn. Serve warm with optional vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
