Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 celery stick diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • cup flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 2 cups cooked turkey cubed or shredded
  • 12-16 ounces frozen mixed vegetables
  • bread for toast Can also serve on biscuits, rice, or mashed potatoes

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a skillet on low/medium heat. Then add diced onions and celery and cook them until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in the seasonings.
  • Next, thoroughly mix in the flour and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Add the milk and chicken stock and bring to a boil, constantly stirring until the mixture thickens like a gravy.
  • Finally, gently mix the turkey and frozen vegetables and bring it to a simmer until warm and the vegetables are tender for about 5 minutes.
    Serve this cream turkey on toast, buttermilk biscuits, rice, or mashed potatoes.
