Ingredients
1pound ground sausagebreakfast, mild, hot, or Itailan
Handful baby spinachoptional
13-16ouncespizza or bread doughthawed
2cupsmozzarella cheese
1large eggbeaten
Instructions
Brown the ground sausage in a 10 to 12-inch skillet until it is no longer pink, and drain off any excess grease. Then add in the optional spinach and cook it with the sausage on medium until it is wilted. Set the skillet aside to cool.
On a large piece of parchment paper (works well for pre-made doughs) or a lightly floured surface (works well for homemade dough) work, roll out and shape the dough into a large rectangle (9x12 inches or larger) with the longer side facing you. The dough should be 1/4-inch thick.
Evenly sprinkle the meat and spinach on top, followed by the shredded cheese, leaving a 1-inch bare edge of dough around the rectangle.
Roll the sausage bread dough cinnamon-roll style by rolling the long edge down from the top edge, being careful not to rip the dough. Once you get to the bottom, bring the lip up and pinch it into the dough roll. Then, turn the bread loaf seam-side down and place it on a large piece of parchment paper(if you haven't done so already). Next, tuck each side of the dough roll under to secure the sausage and cheese in the bread loaf.
Slide the bread onto a large baking sheet. Using a pastry brush, brush the dough with the egg.
Bake the sausage bread at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until the loaf is golden brown and the bread is cooked through. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 1-inch slices. Serve warm and enjoy!
