How to make a Simple Baked Chicken Breast with Garlic and Parmesan Cheese
This recipe is really three simple steps and a handful of ingredients so you can’t go wrong. Perfect for a quick and light lunch or meal idea!
First, prepare the marinade, topping, and chicken. In a medium bowl mix together the extra virgin olive oil, garlic powder, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper for the marinade. Then, in another medium bowl mix together the shredded parmesan cheese and parsley for the topping. Lastly, butterfly your chicken breast.
This recipe calls for two larger chicken breasts so I like to butterfly them. Making the chicken an even and thinner thickness gives you a quick and even baking time across the whole breast. As an added bonus you have more area of flavorful chicken to enjoy too!
Second, place the butterflied chicken in a baking dish and marinate the chicken by topping it with the lemon and garlic marinade. Let this sit while the oven preheats to 400 degrees Fahrenheit or about 30 minutes.
Once, the oven is preheated evenly sprinkle the marinated chicken with the parmesan cheese topping. Bake the chicken for 20 minutes or until the chicken has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
