Ingredients
- 24 ounces -two bags of frozen steamable green beans, thawed and drained
- OR 4 – 14.5 ounce canned green beans, drained
- OR 1 quart of homemade canned green beans, drained
- 4 slices/4 ounces of bacon, chopped
- plus a slice or two more for garnish and extra crunch. There is no such thing as too much bacon.
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions
In a skillet, fry the bacon until crispy. Drain off all but one tablespoon of grease. Then, saute the onions until wilted and browned. Remove from heat.
*If making the bacon in the oven, wilt and fry your onions in a pan with a tablespoon of reserved bacon grease.
Then, mix the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
Now, add your drained green beans to the bottom of a slow cooker. Then, top the green beans with the sauce, cooked bacon, and onions.
Cook on low for 2 hours, then gently stir to combine the green beans with the sauce, bacon, and onions. Finally, cook on low for an additional 1-2 hours. Enjoy!
Oven-Baked BBQ Green Beans

Thanks! I wouldn’t recommend using french green beans as they might get mushy when cooked. Regular green beans tend to soak in the flavor better as well.
