Simply make the homemade quesadilla sauce, layer on the tortilla, sauce, chicken, and cheese, and cook and enjoy! Ingredients for Easy Chicken Quesadillas with Homemade Sauce
The secret to simplicity is to keep it simple! These ingredients can be customized to your tastes and what’s in your pantry at home. Don’t overthink it!
- 16-ounce sour cream
- 1 teaspoon taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- Don’t have garlic salt? Make homemade garlic salt! For a super simple garlic salt, remember the ratio of one part garlic powder to three parts salt.
- 4 teaspoons hot sauce
- Pick your favorite hot sauce and go with it. We love Frank’s RedHot Original Sauce.

- shredded cheddar cheese
Directions for the Chicken Quesadillas
Start off making the homemade chicken quesadilla sauce:
Mix the sour cream, taco seasoning, garlic sauce, and hot sauce until completely combined. Taste the sauce and add more taco seasoning/hot sauce to taste.
Then spread a generous amount of sauce on half of a flour tortilla and add a sprinkling of cooked shredded chicken and cheddar cheese on top. Fold the tortilla in half.
Finally, in a large skillet or on a hot griddle, cook the quesadilla until heated through, the cheese is melted, and it’s browning. Slice and serve with extra dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy!
