This McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake is named after the famous McDonald’s sandwich that compiled all the good things about breakfast into one. This McGriddle in bake form includes all the sandwich’s components, plus the option to add custom flavors and use pantry staples. Plus, this bake feeds a crowd. It is perfect for early mornings, meal prep, and weekend guests. It’s equally easy and impressive!

This is an all-in-one breakfast meal idea. With sausage and eggs as hearty proteins mixed with the great taste of pancakes and syrup, this copycat McGriddle is for both adults and kids. It’s savory and sweet. It’s a filling and keep-them-full breakfast.

How to Make a Maple Sausage Pancake Breakfast Bake

The McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake comes together effortlessly. It involves browning meat, cracking eggs, mixing, and baking a delicious breakfast casserole til golden brown. Top the bake with a drizzle of syrup for a complete breakfast or brunch that tastes great! This easy breakfast bake deserves a try and will win a spot in your meal rotation!

Ingredients for the McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake

  • 16 ounces of breakfast sausage
    • Customize by heat or favourite brand. Our family usually likes any brand of original breakfast sausage.
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups pancake mix
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup syrup, pure maple syrup, or pancake syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper
    • At least a couple dashes of each. My mom always said you can’t have something sweet without a little bit of salt.

Instructions for a McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage until no longer pink, crumbling it as it cooks. Drain off the excess drippings and set the sausage aside.

Next, in a medium to large bowl, whisk together the pancake mix, eggs, milk, syrup, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Then mix in the sausage and one cup of the shredded cheddar cheese.

Spread the batter evenly in a greased 9x13inch baking dish.

Then bake it at 375°F for 25-30 minutes, or until completely set. Top the McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake with the remaining cheese, then return it to the oven until the cheese is melted. Serve warm with a drizzle of syrup and enjoy!

Storing a Breakfast Bake

Once cooled, put the leftover McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat it in the oven or microwave.

Make Ahead McGriddle-Inspired Breakfast Bake

As I stated before, this is a great breakfast to make ahead for easy weekend meals! Brown the sausage the night before, then mix the remaining ingredients just before baking. Don’t even have time for that? Make and bake the whole McGriddle Breakfast Bake the night before, then reheat it the next day. Heat the entire pan, covered with foil, at 200°F for about 30 minutes, or until heated through. Reheat single servings in the microwave. Top with syrup if desired and enjoy!
