Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole Ingredients
- 16-ounce bag of egg noodles
- We normally use any wide egg noodles but this time used these Amish made medium egg noodles.. So good!
- 2- 10.5 ounce cans of cream of mushroom soup
- 1- 4 ounce can of sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1- 5 ounce can of chunk light tuna in water, drained
- A cup of milk
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
For topping
- 5 slices of sandwich bread
- Whatever you have on hand works! We use wheat bread.
- 1/2 cup(1 stick) of butter, melted
Classic Tuna Noodle Casserole Directions
First, prepare the egg noodles according to package directions, drain the noodles, and mix the cooked egg noodles with the cream of mushroom soup, sliced mushrooms, tuna, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese. Then spread this mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Next, cube up the bread into any preferred size. You can do smaller cubes like crumbs or large cubes like croutons. Then drizzle the melted butter over the top of the cubed bread and mix to make sure all bread crumbs are coated. Top the casserole with the buttered bread crumbs.
Cover the tuna noodle casserole with foil and bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Uncover the casserole and bake it for additional 10 minutes. Optional: Broil 2-3 minutes to brown bread crumbs.
Serve tuna noodle casserole warm by itself, a small side salad, or fresh fruits and vegetables. Enjoy!
